In the winter of 2015, Schneider Electric decided to renovate the showroom at its Beijing Wangjing headquarters. The roughly 700-square-metre space was about to be transformed.
The previous showroom was fitted out in 2010 and was largely static. This time Schneider Electric wanted it to be more intelligent and interactive. Yangben Cloud brought its expertise to the project.
Yangben Cloud designed the interactive and network systems for the whole showroom and provided integrated planning consultancy, so that the City, Smart Home, Cloud Space, Data Centre and Smart Manufacturing zones worked as one.
The showroom receives many visitors each year from a wide range of industries, each with different interests. The challenge was to give a coherent introduction while letting each group follow what mattered to them.
Display space is finite, and screens cannot simply be added without limit. Content had to switch quickly and the showroom's function had to adapt, while still presenting Schneider Electric's industry expertise. That made the interactive system central to the space.
In the City hall, the interactive system Yangben Cloud provided switches a 17-metre LED wall at the touch of a button: video, presentation, standard tour mode or conference mode, all from a phone.
The most striking element in the City hall is the city relief model, nearly 6 metres high and 20 metres wide. During meetings it sits quietly behind the audience; during group tours, it comes alive under phone control.
The phone also controls the showroom lighting, and with it the model.
During a presentation, each Schneider Electric business can be shown separately, with the large screen beneath the model adding focus and clarity.
The phone can also play the Pandora film, bringing the model to life and showing how Schneider Electric's solutions work across the city.
The LED wall switches modes freely and plays preloaded video and presentations. Beyond the City hall, the large screens in the Smart Home, Cloud Space and Data Centre halls are controlled by the same phone system.
The Smart Manufacturing hall is more complex still, switching between multiple multi-screen systems so that Schneider Electric's software demos, videos and presentations can be shown flexibly, giving each industry's customers what they need.
